5 Must Read Books on AI

Artificial Intelligence Basics

This book is a very engaging non-technical introduction to important concepts in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and robotics and what I liked the most about it is that it has real-world case studies and practical implementation steps and best practices.  I think it is a must read and a prerequisite for anyone lacking the technical background but is interested in either brining AI to their current business or starting an AI business.

AI Super Powers

It is a provocative book from Dr. Kai-Fu Lee – one of the world’s most respected AI expert. My goal is to have him as a guest on the podcast soon.  The book reveals the extent to which China has caught up and and  exceeded US in some aspects at a very rapid pace in the AI race. In his book he also goes into how millions of suddenly displaced workers must find a new ways to make their lives meaningful, and how government policies would have to deal with unprecedented inequality between “haves” and “have-nots”,  very appropriate of times we are in

AI for Marketing and Product Innovation

This book offers product innovators, creative talent and marketing professionals a hands-on and highly accessible guide to artificial intelligence (AI).  The authors reveal how to harness AI  to accelerate product innovation and marketing and what I like the most is that throughout the book, the authors neither resort to mathematical mumbo-jumbo nor do they present series of case studies; instead, they challenge us to “Think Different.”  The book is filled with the information needed to understand the practical business implications of Artificial Intelligence and how to put them to work to gain competitive advantage

Deep Medicine

This one had me at the title. Deep Medicine: How AI Can Make Healthcare Human Again.
In this book, the author, Eric Topol, who is one the leading physicians in US, reveals how artificial intelligence has the potential to transform everything doctors do, from note-taking and medical scans to diagnosis and treatment, greatly cutting down the cost of medicine and reducing human mortality. By freeing physicians from the tasks that interfere with human connection, AI will create space for the real healing that takes place between a doctor who can listen and a patient who needs to be heard. All in all an excellent read on the topic without going into technical and mathematical aspects of AI applications in medicine

Life 3.0 Being Human in the age of Artificial Intelligence

This book empowers you to join what is possibly the most important conversation of our time. It doesn’t shy away from the full range of viewpoints or from the most controversial issues—from super-intelligence to meaning, consciousness and the ultimate physical limits on life in the cosmos. I cannot think of a person better qualified to write about AI future than Prof. Max Tegmark, an MIT professor who’s is leading the mainstream research on how to keep AI beneficial. He is another potential guest I would like to have on the show.
